Colonel Kapil Dev
Fomer India cricket captain Kapil Dev who was inducted into the Territorial Army five months ago with the title of Honorary Colonel begins his combat training today. Kapil received his badge of honour from the chief of Army Staff in September 2008.
The former cricketer’s familarisation of the army begins today - this orientationwhich is being called a ‘battle readiness test’ will include a firing practise amongst other drills.
Talking to mediapersons, Kapil Dev who was in his usual high spirits singled out ‘discipline’ as the most important aspect of his familiarisation and compared the need for discipline amongst army personnel to that required by cricketers. He also called for the youth of the country to come forward and make their contributions to the nation in whatever way they could.
