Horrible!
The Indian one day and T20 cricket team will get a brand new look for their tour to New Zealand. The Indian team’s jersey sponsors Nike unveiled a new deep-blue uniform for the team at a star-studded function in Mumbai.
The ramp show displayed the various jerseys that the Indian cricketers have donned on the cricket fields over the years. First to walk the ramp was Laxman Sivaramakrishnan who proudly showcased the dress worn by the victorious Indian team of the 1985 Benson & Hedges World Series in Australia. Vinod Kambli and Robin Singh followed the former spinner on the ramp, wearing the 1997 and 1999 outfits of the India teams of then.
Not too surprisingly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the star of the evening. In a lighter vein the India captain remarked that the deeper shade will help reduce the laundry bills of the team. Yuvraj Singh too was in a great mood poking fun of a clause in the agreements of the Indian cricketers which refrains them from going bungee-jumping.
Our take:
Another horrible outfit for the India cricket team. It’s amazing why the world’s richest cricket board can’t get a great looking outfit for its cricketers. Both Australia and New Zealand whose teams were in action recently have got stunning new dresses for their team. The Indian one undoubtedly pales in their comparison. And the sponsors name “Sahara” so loud and large, it competes with the team name. It’s a shame really.
